The European Cyber Security Challenge is an initiative of the European Union Agency for Network and Information Security (ENISA). This annual event takes place this year from 9 to 11 October 2019 in the Romanian capital Bucharest. Here teams from more than twenty European countries will compete with each other. The aim of the ECSC is to develop excellent cyber security skills within Europe by, among other things, promoting national cyber security challenges, promoting and raising awareness of cyber security. Testing is mainly based on hard cyber security skills, but also on cooperation and other softer skills. Typical assignments are individual and group capture the flag challenges and an attack defense tournament, while each team must also give a final presentation.
Swiss Cyber Storm will put a team together that may represent Switzerland in Bucharest. Unfortunately this is not open to all participants. The ECSC sets strict conditions with regard to team composition: a team consists of a maximum of 10 people with Swiss nationality; 5 of these are between 14 and 20 years old and 5 members between 21 and 25 years old.
